Old Sewing Cabinet turned Entryway Table with Pure & Original

April is flying by and I can't believe we are on our way towards May. Totally crazy! I feel like it was just my 29th birthday in March. That only means that I better be going after my "last year of my 20's" goals before I hit the big 3-0. I feel like this month has a been a whirlwind of obligations. When I get really stressed like this month, I love to unwind by painting something. It's so therapeutic for me. That's why I love the Fab Flippin' Furniture Contest hosted by Carrie over at Thirty Eight Street & Stacie at Anastasia Vintage every month. For my 27th birthday, I think, don't quote me on that, my mom gave me a new vintage inspired Singer sewing machine. Isn't it really terrible that I can't remember? That reminds me, I need to

 take it in to be tuned up. Is that even what you call it? Anyways, after that, she bought this adorable vintage sewing table/cabinet. The top flips up and over and the sewing machine comes up so that it creates a work area. The original sewing machine is still inside and my plan is to switch it out with my new one. So adorable right? When she found it, it was a solid wood color and it needed a little work. Nothing that I couldn't do right? So I stole it from her garage. Well not exactly stole it but took it with a vision of  a cute makeover for my machine so that I could get some sewing done.

I then painted it a cream color and it stayed like that until I got the opportunity to work with Pure & Original Paint. They are a LUXURY brand and are imported from the Netherlands. Amazing right? For this project I used their Classico Chalk paint which was velvety and rich.

I started off my painting to coats of "White Rhino which is a gray with a slight blue tint.

*I was getting really excited and had to try out my sparkly knobs.

After I let the 2 coats of White Rhino dry completely, I rounded up a dry rag, damp rag and black glaze.

Dip a little of the dry cloth into the glaze and white/rub it on over an area. Then take the damp rag and wipe off as much as you want creating a look that you love. It is all personal preference. Continue to do exactly that over the entire piece. Let dry.

I then added the gold paint in the detail. I will be showing you the easiest way to do that Monday! You won't believe how easy it was... After that has dried. Add your sparkly knobs and you are done!
