Recently I worked with a client who wanted a mix of old world and modern. I needed to satisfy both the husband's and wife's taste individually with mixing the 2 styles to fit their taste. She loved light & bright colors while he loved light mixed with chocolates and burnt orange. They already had the chocolate couch, the big silver mirror, vintage trunk and the two cream chairs. I took color inspiration from an existing piece of art that they had and made all 3 spaces cohesive in color so it flowed.
My advice to anyone wanting to choose a new style of decor for their home is find a piece that you are in love with. It could be a pillow, lamp shade, rug or piece of art. Draw your color palette from that and go from there.
